Surveillance of railroad trenches, dykes, dams and open-pit mines.

LGS is very involved in the field of dyke and earth dam failure prevention as well as railway trench monitoring. It has developed a multi-sensor system with Bragg gratings integrated in a tube designed to be integrated into the side of a trench. Up to 64 tubes can be installed in a network along the structure and the information is analyzed remotely by an interrogation and multiplexing unit.

 

The sensor tubes allow to measure locally and continuously :

• Landslides or displacements with a resolution < 1mm
• The temperature for the detection of water flows
• Vibrations
• Piezometry
