The strain sensors can be applied to monitor strain changes in various structures for a very long period of time.
Strain sensors use the sensivity of fiber grating to measure strain. FBG is fixed inside a stainless steel box between two anchor points. The box is made with a sliding mechanism which allows the two ends to move freely relative to each other.
